Simba Savannah season 2
Applications are open for the second season of Zimbabwean reality TV show Simba Savannah. The show ran a successful premiere with a number of innovators benefiting from the show. The Dragon’s Den like show was aired on ZBC TV every Sunday at 1900 hrs and commanded a huge following.
The simbas are a panel of potential mentors, partners or investors on the Simba Savannah show. The season premiere included some high profile Zimbabwean business people like Ritesh Anand, Nigel Chanakira, Chamu Chiwanza, Gary Thompson and Florence Ziumbe. If there is anything not to go by its the simbas. These are hard shelled business tycoons who have proven themselves in the harshest of economies. Innovators who qualify for pitching in the show get a real chance to get honest business opinions about their ideas, products and services. Even those that do not walk away with anything can think of their experience in the simbas’ den as ‘free consultation’ from the best in the land.
Who can apply?
The show welcome’s any individual or team of innovators with projects or innovations where they have gained some form of traction. This may be a first sale, a prototype or beta product or anything showing traction of sorts.
We absolutely love it! The state of innovation in Zimbabwe is just fantastic at the moment. While the economy is not very ‘supportive’ the environment is ‘somewhat’ conducive. There is tonnes of unemployed yet sharp and talented young innovators in the country. We like to see this as a vehicle for technopreneurship rather than an adversity. Simba Savannah happens to be a great fuel for this innovation vehicle. The show could not have come at a better time. Kudos to Tommy Deuschle and his team on the fantastic initiative!
