Django Girls Harare to host 2nd workshop this November

Django Girls Harare will be hosting their second coding workshop for women on the 24th of November. The workshop is part of the large technical conference PyConZim which brings together professionals, enthusiasts, hobbists and students who have an interest in or passion for the programming language Python.

What is Django Girls?

Django Girls is a non-profit organization and a community that empowers and helps women to organize free, one-day programming workshops by providing tools, resources and support. The organisation is a volunteer run organization which has grown quite a large community. Hundreds of volunteers contribute to empowering women by introducing them to the world of technology.

Since 2014, Django Girls has grown tremendously. 547 volunteers in 66 countries and 190 cities have organised 266 events. The Django Girls Harare workshop will be their second event.

Django Girls Harare is part of the bigger Django Girls organisation. They will this year be hosting the second workshop at the ZESA National Training Centre in Belvedere. The workshop is free but participants have to bring a laptop. Attendees will also get some snacks while they learn to code and build their first website. Our thoughts

Tech needs more women. There just is not enough women in the fields of Science, Engineering and Technology. Initiatives and organisations like Django need all the support they can get. Women need to be encouraged to attend these events in their number or else the fight is a lost cause.
