Dr CADx wins Seedstars Harare, gets a shot at $1 million

Dr CADx emerged top in the Seedstars Harare competition held on Sunday. The E-health startup continues to shine on the local tech scene and is definitely geared for the international scene. The Sunday win means Dr CADx will get a shot at up to $1 million seed funding at the Seedstars Summit to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland on the 6th of April 2017. The Dr CADx team comprises of Gift Gana, a software developer and Tatenda Madzorera, a medical specialist. Dr CADx won the ICT innovators’ showcase Bulawayo event recently. Evidently there is potential in the startup.

Dr CADx pitched alongside eleven other startups. In second place was drivers licence acquisition tool Road Rules Solutions while Round Technologies, an e-commerce startup came third.

Other startups that pitched at the Seedstars Harare event include STEM e-learning platform Zivai, crowd-sourced lost and found network Potea, savings startup MoneySmart, youth financial services company PENYA Finance, business setup platform BizeX, 3D bio-tech firm Ignite Africa, and agri-tech startups iFarm, Hurudza Africa and Hurukuro.

Seedstars World has already selected African winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria,Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and Senegal this year.

What exactly is Dr CADx?

 Dr CADx is a computer aided diagnostic system to help doctors diagnose medical images more accurately and save lives. Doctors being human make mistakes and so have limited diagnostic accuracy averaging 70%. Due to these inaccuracies, patients thus don’t get the best care and some actually die. Dr CADx thus uses deep learning to build a computer aided diagnostic system to help doctors diagnose medical images more accurately.
