Dr CADx, a Zimbabwean computer aided medical diagnostics tool has been named among ten finalists in the Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) 2017 edition. Co-founded by Gift Gana, Dr CADx has been nominated for the prestigious Africa Innovation Prize finals among nine other innovations from 8 African countries. Gift and his team stand a chance to walk away with the US$100 000 grand prize at the IPA event to be held in Ghana next month. IPA also has a second prize of $25 000, another special prize for Social Impact of $25 000 and $5 000 vouchers for all of the remaining seven nominees.
Winning the prize would be a major boost for the Zimbabwean startup as IPA has some major incentives like investment opportunities, training, and access to our vibrant network of innovation enablers, ongoing PR support, and media coverage. The startup has already done well for itself and some of its achievements include winning The ICT Innovation Showcase, SEEDSTARS Harare, and AI Medical Imaging Visionary Innovation Leadership Award. The startup has also enjoyed some media coverage after being featured in Forbes and Disrupt 100.
Dr CADx has become a very important member of Zimbabwe’s startup ecosystem. The community needs startups that will make it big on a global scale so as to instill confidence in other startups and attract investors onto the local scene.
